Game analysis- dark souls 3
Dark souls 3 is an amazing RPG which was released in 2016 on the 24th of March. The player has to travel around the world of Lothric defeating enemies to reach the boss battle at the end of the area. The player can create their character however they would like to allow the player to have a personal connection to their character. However, this game was not made thinking of “casuals” it is another relentless game just like the other 2 games within the series. There are lots of different mechanics within the Dark Souls series and they don’t really get explained to you but this goes along side with the whole “we aren’t going to hold your hand” situation this game has going on. One of the main mechanics and only mechanic that truly gets explained to you in detail is bonfires and how they work. Since bonfires are essential for new players, and being honest most players in general, the only players that don’t need them are your veterans of the series that can speed run the game. Another mechanic that has a massive effect on how the player will do is the stat boosts they receive from their armour. For example, Havel’s armour boosts physical resistance massively but makes you slow but if you put on Havel’s ring as well you can reduce the weight of it. Others reduce poison damage/speed and so on, if players over look these boosts etc, they can be set back massively especially when bosses may deal poison damage etc. |
