Team Project Weekly Summary
Week 1: 1/02/21
This week we met our groups and started to sort out the roles everyone would have and their jobs etc. We then started to discuss ideas as a team and decided that a psychological horror/puzzle type game. After this we discussed possible locations, for example, a castle, asylum, mansion and also a ship, we came to the conclusion of a mansion being the best.
Week 2: 8/02/21
Following on from last week we created a google drive/google dox that we can all add to etc. we then started to plan the rooms and how we would have them look as well. This includes the size and all of the props inside. To find the props that we might use we did some research looking at photos etc to see what props are included in the rooms. Once we had done we then created bullet point lists of the items and sent them into out discord to discuss.

The research continued as we are wanting to get real world model sizes (in meters) so for the fireplace i am designing i have found sizes for the mantel piece, the length, and the width as well. I noted down about 3 sizes per criteria.

these are only a few models but it then allows me to get the real world measurements but also try different ones too, so i can get the best fit.
Week 3: 15/02/21
this week some modelling started to take place, this included the bed, the wardrobe and the fireplace. I had to do a little more research on the measurements for the bed and the wardrobe just to make sure i got them right, however i already had the fireplace sorted.

The fireplace isn’t included in this picture as its not fully finished and is on the back wall.
i sent this to the group and we have decided that i should change the bed cover so its messy and move the pillows so it isn’t as tidy. i have added one or two colours to the models so i know wat the material will be etc.
week 4: 22/02/21
This week i continued to add to the bedroom, by creating some more assets. First i had a look at some images i had found in the first couple of weeks so i had a rough idea of how i wanted certain assets to look and then i started to have a go with different things. I also sent a few screenshots into the chat on discord and ask for opinions, it was then decided that the room need to have some mess in it as the player will be cleaning it up.
So i start off by taking the pillows and putting them into a couple of different spots for the player to try and find. I then removed the bed cover and tried to make it messy but failed however i will get it to work eventually.
I then moved on to making the desk and the chair, the chair is gonna be broken but for now i just left it as it is. I then finished off the fireplace too.

Once im happy with these i will then make the toilet and the sink for the bathroom, and then move on to texturing the assets.
Week 5: 01/03/21
At the start of this week i checked with the rest of my group just to see how everyone was getting on and to see what was needed to be done. I then confirmed picture sizes with the 2D artist in our group before continuing to model assets.

Once i was happy with the bedroom i moved onto the bathroom modelling a toilet, a sink and two cabinets.
Week 6: 08/03/21
This week i focused on getting the assets ready for texturing. I started going through each asset making sure they had a fairly even UV map so that the textures wont stretch and will keep as much quality as possible.

I then moved into substance painter to get a texture to use on my chair. Once i chose one i rendered it to make sure i was happy with it.

I chose this texture as it fits perfectly with our games abandoned mansion theme since the paint is peeling off of the chair it shows that its been there a while.
Week 7: 15/03/2021
Throughout this week i continued to texture my assets and made sure they fitted with the scene and looked correct. Here are renders of some of the items.

Once i was happy with the renders i then exported these from substance painter, back into Maya and added them into the scene.
Week 8: 22/03/2021
This week i worked on the render of the scene and just making sure it was up to scratch with how i wanted it to be. Here are some renders of the room.

I was really happy with how this came out and feel like i have improved since the last scene i had to make, however there is still room for improvement.
Week 9: 29/03/2021
Not much was done this week, just a weekly update with the rest of the group and seeing where everyone is at.
Week 10: 05/04/2021
